Dog mum Lucy narrowly missed out on a world record too.

In cute animal news of the day, a Yellow Labrador in Taunton, Somerset has given birth to a litter of 13 black-coated puppies.

And all of the puppies born to three-year-old pooch Lucy have taken after their dad, a black Labrador.

When Catherine Smith's dog Lucy went into labour, the pet owner was shocked at the amount of puppies she delivered.

Waitress Catherine, 37, said: "She had the first four in just 20 minutes, then they just kept appearing.

We're imagining a 101 Dalmations scenario here, we'll be honest!

"This is the first time we have bred a dog and thought she might have five or six. She started at 11.50am and it was all over by 4.30pm.

And Lucy also seemed surprised by the number of puppies she gave birth to, which consisted of eight males and five females.

"I think she wondered where they'd all come from," Catherine added.

Though Lucy narrowly missed out on being mum to the biggest Labrador litter in England (the record is 14), it's still an impressive number of pups and Catherine is now, understandably, buying a lot more dog food than before.

"We're now getting through 15kg of dog food a week," she admitted.

Catherine, who mated Lucy with her friend's eight-year-old black Lab, Bastion, to produce the cute offspring, has also found homes for all 13 puppies.

Otherwise, we'd be next in line for one of these adorable pooches!

In other doggo news, as temperatures rise in the summer, pet owners can treat their pets to a foldable paddling pool, and it doesn't need inflating.

Meanwhile, with many events being postponed, cancelled or moved online, imagine our excitement when it was announced that the annual Dogstival (yes, that is a festival for dogs) would still be happening next month. Sign us up!
