It's Christmas time, and between decorating the house and doing last-minute Christmas shopping, everyone has been watching their favourite festive flicks. Home Alone and its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York are at the top of lots of people's watch-lists.

One particular character from Home Alone 2, known only as The Pigeon Lady, has been on everyone's minds again, partly due to a viral meme which suggested Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was in fact the mysterious Pigeon Lady.

However, the actress who played The Pigeon Lady, Brenda Fricker, has been interviewed recently and she revealed she will be spending Christmas alone.

Brenda opened up on Irish radio station RTÉ Radio One to Ray D'Arcy about how the festive season this year will be a lonely time for her, just like many other years. Ray asked her how she felt about so many families watching her in the Home Alone sequel yet she will be sitting at home on her own.

She replied: "Well, the pigeon lady was very much on her own.

"I would be lying if I said it would be a nice and happy Christmas because I am one of those people, I am old and living alone and it can be very dark."

Brenda lives in Dublin and has spent many Christmases on her own, The Independent.ie reports. She offered some advice for others who are facing the festive season alone. "I just turn the phone off, put the blinds down and pre-record some programmes and films and I have my dog and I get myself through that way."

Brenda won her Oscar for her performance as mother of cerebral palsy victim Christy Brown in the film 'My Left Foot' (

The Oscar-winning actress also said she finds New Year's Eve more difficult. She said: "You know I don't find Christmas all that difficult, what I do find difficult is New Years Eve," she said.

"It's all the bells and the ringing and no one to turn around to or smile at and I can't get away from bells in The Liberties, there are churches everywhere."

Speaking about the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, she said: " I think people of my age, I'm 75 now, people of my age were very obedient and still are and I think anybody that has a sense of civic duty is behaving themselves.

"But it's people who are not behaving themselves that really scare me."

Earlier this month, Piers Morgan was forced to deny that he was The Pigeon Lady (
ITV/20th Century Fox)

Earlier this month, Piers Morgan was forced to deny that he was The Pigeon Lady after his co-host Susanna Reid revived the accusations during a live show. She claimed that the Good Morning Britain staff and crew had found "proof" that Piers had a role in the film however he continued to deny it.

To make matters worse for Piers, the Good Morning Britain producers showed a picture of Piers next to the Central Park Pigeon Lady and we must say, there is an uncanny resemblance!

Susanna claimed she had 'proof' they were the same person, showing footage from an episode in 2018 where Morgan was covered in pigeons.

We hope Brenda has a Merry Christmas!
