The Queen has sparked concern after she was photographed with a 'large purple bruise' covering her hand during meeting with Jordanian royals.

Posing for the cameras alongside King Abdullah, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan Buckingham Palace, the 92-year-old could be seen with what looked like a bruised back of her hand.

A number of eagle-eyed fans of the royal family took to Twitter worried about the monarch as the royal photos were shared to the public yesterday.

"I love keeping up with Queen [Elizabeth] II but I'm concerned," tweeted one person, "Why does she have such a terrible bruise on her left hand. Did I miss something? But as always, she looks stunning!"

"Is the Queen's hand bruised?" questioned another worried royal watcher. And somebody else added: "Oh my... HM does look like she hurt her hand... Hope it heals quickly."

However, others were quick to point out Her Majesty's age, noting that bruising is much more common in the elderly, especially on certain medications.

"The lady is 92. At that age any little knock unfortunately turns into what can look severe bruises," shared one. "The Queen is rather fab though isn't she?"

Another royal watched echoed: "Part of this can just be due to age. I noticed this with my great grandmother and others I have care for over the years."

Others wondered whether the 'injury' was a burn. Buckingham Palace has not yet commented on the Queen's bruise.

The Queen's meeting with the Jordinian royals yesterday marked the start of their visit to the UK.
