The Royal Family have shared an adorable photograph of The Queen and Prince Philip together, to mark the Duke's 99th birthday today.

The pair were photographed in the grounds of Windsor Castle last week, with the Queen, 94, looking very summery in a floral Angela Kelly dress.

The Duke meanwhile, looked smart in a navy blazer and a Household Division tie - as one fan on Twitter pointed out, "even at 99 he still is a dapper dresser". Very true!

The picture was taken by a Press Association photographer last week, during the warm and sunny weather, so it could be released in time for Philip's birthday.

The Queen and Prince Philip have been isolating together at Windsor Castle during the lockdown, with Philip reportedly flown by helicopter from the Sandringham Estate to join Her Majesty.

The government's guidance for those over the age of 70, regardless of medical conditions, was to minimise contact with others outside of their own household.

The managing editor of Majesty magazine, Joe Little, said their time together in lockdown was "an opportunity for them in their later years to reconnect... It is the perfect royal cocooning".

Fans and family have been quick to wish Prince Philip a happy birthday this morning, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posting a sweet message on their Instagram, alongside a montage of photos.

"Wishing a very happy 99th Birthday to The Duke of Edinburgh!" The post was captioned.

Prince William has previously spoken about his concerns for his grandparents during the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier this year, he told BBC Breakfast: "Obviously I think very carefully about my grandparents who are the age they're at - we're doing everything we can to make sure that they're isolated away and protected from this."

The Queen certainly seems to have been keeping busy during lockdown. At the end of last month she was pictured riding her 14-year-old pony, Fern, in Windsor Home Park.

"Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and is closely involved with the welfare of the horses she owns for breeding, riding and racing," the photos were captioned.

We hope the Queen and Prince Philip have a lovely day - and we're wishing the Duke a huge happy birthday!
