Olivia Newton-John has revealed that she is sadly battling with cancer for a third time.

The 69-year-old battled a second bout of cancer back in 2013 - a fight which she had decided to keep secret.

In a gut-wrenching interview with Channel Seven's Sunday Night, the film icon explained why she had chosen not to reveal her illness at the time...

She told the show: 'I thought 'It's my life' and I just decided to keep it to myself."

Olivia first noticed a lump in her shoulder back in 2013, following her involvement in a minor car crash.

Speaking to Sunday Night, the Hollywood star revealed how she had first thought the lump had been caused by the tension of her seatbelt, but scans showed it to be the return of a cancer she had beaten twenty years earlier.

After beating the second bout of cancer, Olivia is now battling with the disease again, after doctors found a tumour at the base of her spine in 2017.

In a bid to fight the illness, the 69-year-old has completely cut down on sugar, and has turned to herbal remedies to help her.

"In California, it's legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes... I'm very lucky that I live in a state where it's legal and that I have a husband that is a plant-medicine man," she told the show.

Olivia's husband, John Easterling, is the founder of the Amazon Herb Company, and grows cannabis for her at their ranch California.

But despite her diagnosis, Olivia wants to remain positive about things, and refuses to feel sorry for herself.

She told the show: "'There are other people out there doing much, much worse than me. I'm a very privileged person, and I'm very aware of that,' she stated.

"I live in this beautiful place. I have a wonderful husband. I have all the animals that I adore. I have an incredible career. I have nothing, really, to complain about."
