Lucy Mecklenburgh has taken to Instagram to share a snap of her bloated stomach, vowing to be more "open and honest" with her followers.
In a candidly truthful post, fitness guru Lucy - who first found fame on The Only Way Is Essex - explained how she'd struggled with bloating after almost everything she eats for around 10 years.
After previously sharing a video of her bloated tummy to Instagram two days earlier, Lucy said she was shocked by the amount of people with the same struggles as her, with the former reality star promising to show both the good and bad with her life in future.
"This is a slightly different post to my usual but I'm annoyed it's taken me so long!" shared Lucy in the caption. "2 days ago I posted a video on my story of my tummy bloated. I had 100's of DM's in minutes which really shocked me!"
She added: "This is something many of us clearly have to deal with!! And I'm frustrated with myself I haven't been more open & honest about it in the past but the main reason maybe is that it felt embarrassing!!"
Lucy continued: "I train 3-4 times a week I eat a healthy balanced diet & I get this most nights for probably 10 years!!
"But I've never shared it with anyone maybe because i thought it looks bad as I have a health and fitness business and it didn't make me a good advert for my business but actually I really wish I had as it doesn't make me unfit or unhealthy it MAKES ME HUMAN!"
Lucy went on to explain that she'd managed to identify certain foods which cause her bloating, although she still becomes frustrated when it happens unexpectedly.
She said: "I know certain foods that trigger it and I'm more prone to it on holiday as I'm more relaxed with what I'm eating but this means I pack alot of kaftans and floaty dresses on in my suitcase!! I know pasta, bread, dairy products, greasy fast food, alcohol, onions and raw veg causes me to become bloated (I worked this out myself through years or keeping food diaries & logging when I was bloated)
"But honestly somethings IM LIKE WTF AM I ALLERGIC TO F****** WATER!!!! It happens randomly and I'm sooooo uncomfortable and makes me want to veg out on the sofa in One of Ryan's trackies and do nothing.
"So I'm making a promise now to all of my followers that I will be more open and honest and not always show the 'good' 'happy' 'perfect' parts of me & my life."
Lucy's fans were quick to praise the star on her relatable post, sharing that they - like most women - struggle with bloating themselves, adding that it was a breathe of fresh air to see a celebrity speaking so openly about something so "embarrassing".
"Thank you for posting this. It's nice to see to something so honest and so real," declared one of her Instagram followers.
And another echoed: "Credit to you Lucy. So so relatable."
While a third shared: "Ths is so refreshing, I am a similar build to yourself and I've struggled with it for years, I used to get made fun of people saying i turned pregnant on a night out (after I've drank alcohol or ate bread is when it's at its worst)."
Lucy, we salute you for opening up the conversation around this.
