Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed she had to take baby Roman to see a doctor yesterday, after he choked on a piece of apple.

Although Roman managed to clear the apple himself, Lucy, 29, was left panicking when her son - who turns one next month - spent two hours "gagging" and refusing to eat.

Taking to her Instagram Stories yesterday morning, Lucy posted an image of little Roman cuddling into her chest.

"This morning Roman choked on a little piece of apple and he managed to clear it himself but spent two hours gagging, being sick & bringing up thick saliva," she wrote.

"He's just not himself I think it must be the acid irritating his throat & shock. He's not eaten breakfast & lunch he put in his mouth, gagged & spat it all out."

Lucy asked followers for their advice, explaining she was worried poor Roman was "too scared to eat".

She later explained she had taken Roman to see the GP, who suggested going to A&E if he continued to refuse fluids.

"We did go to the GP and he suggested A&E if he continued to refuse fluids but he has finally had a bottle of water & breastfed just won't eat solids," she added.

While Roman was napping later in the day, Lucy took to her Stories to explain to followers what had happened during the terrifying experience.

"It was just awful. I think, in my head, I thought choking was when they went completely silent and their airways were completely blocked and you got it out and that was OK," she said.

"Whereas, Roman might have had a moment where he was silent, that I didn't notice because I was making breakfast for everyone and I think it was almost like it was partially blocked or something.

"And he... it went on for two hours just him bringing up saliva and phlegm and being sick and then being fine and then started gagging again and bringing it up."

Lucy said that finally, Roman had some water and breast milk, which put her mind at ease a little. And later in the day, after Roman had woken up from his nap, Lucy updated followers with a video of happy Roman enjoying his food!

"Advice I was given, make his favourite meal, make it fun and no pressure," Lucy captioned the video.

We're so glad Roman is feeling better!
