Lizzo Responds To Backlash Over Her 10-Day Juice Detox

Lizzo has been forced to speak out and defend her decision to undergo a 10 day juice cleanse.

The singer - who is known for promoting body confidence - took to social media this week to tell fans about the detox she was on, after "messing up" her stomach with lots of booze and spicy food.

You can check out her response below:

But fans were quick to express their disappointment when they saw she was doing the cleanse, arguing that they thought she would be above participating in 'fads'.

"Something about this feels icky and diet-culture-y to me:( Bummed," one wrote.

While another concurred: "Whhhhyyyyy?? I thought you knew better. Your body can cleanse itself; you're being scammed!!!!!!"

"Disappointing to say the least," a third wrote.

As a fourth penned: "Oh Lizzo :( come on girl, you've always promoted body positivity and a healthful mindset. Smoothie cleanses are shown to be dangerous and they don't even work. Please don't go down the diet promotions road".

Responding to critics, Lizzo took to Instagram to set the record straight, stating that she was in no way doing the cleanse for "weight loss".

In a video on her stories, she said: "I feel like, as a big girl, people expect if you are doing something for health, you're doing it for a dramatic weight loss, and that is not the case.

"In reality, November stressed me the f*** out. I drank a lot, I ate a lot of spicy things and things that f***ed my stomach up.

"I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was. I'm so proud of myself. I'm proud of my results."

The singer added that, as a result of her cleanse, her sleep has improved, and so has her mental health.

"I feel and look like a bad b**** - and that's it," she added. "I'm a big girl who did a smoothie detox and I wanted to share it with you guys. And every big girl should do whatever the f*** they want with their bodies."

Seriously, guys. If you didn't know Lizzo was a fan of juice by now, you clearly aren't a true fan of her work.
