Emma Willis has revealed how cruel trolls made "negative comments" about her son Ace for having long hair and wearing a pink top.

The Voice UK presenter appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about the reaction to a photo she shared of eight-year-old Ace, telling show hosts Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins that "the block button is a great thing".

She said: "I was really overwhelmed, because it's just my son in a pink top and for me that's normality because he loves colour, he's always had long hair."

The presenter continued: "He's a very free and open-minded boy. He's like, 'well, why do I have to dress in green and blue and grey, if I like pink and red and purple?' He's always been that way.

"We're trying to raise him as a very open-minded and inclusive individual. There were a couple of negative bits but the block button is a great thing."

Ace stands alongside his dad, McBusted's Matt Willis. Captioning the post, proud mum Emma wrote: "My little style icon  (Ace, not Matt :joy:)."

Emma, 44, and Matt, 37, share three children - 11-year-old Isabelle, middle child Ace, and four-year-old Trixie - but are famously private about them and have never shared their faces.

Luckily, any negative reaction to the photo was counteracted by a flood of comments from followers who praised Ace on his "stylish" outfit and Emma for "breaking gender stereotypes".

"Just shows how far we have to go in breaking down gender stereotypes. Pink is simply a colour. Hair grows. Let kids (or adults) wear whatever they want!" wrote one.

Another agreed: "Your son is an inspiration. Coming from a mummy of a son who loves pink, rainbows and his Elsa dress. He is following his own story and not bound by stupid society stereotypes."

Fellow presenter Fearne Cotton chimed in, saying: "I miss Ace! When is he making me that dress?"

Spice Girls Emma Bunton commented: "Just gorgeous! We [love] Ace!"

While presenter AJ Odudu said: 'The level of style we can only aspire to!'
