Explaining her situation to her 1.1 million followers, she wrote: "Hi guys, I got my results today and unfortunately I have Thyroid cancer.

"The tumour has been removed but I'm now due to have more surgery to remove the rest of my Thyroid."

Demi added: "I'm staying very positive and I'm a strong girl so I'll be fine, thank you for your love and support always. I'll bounce back stronger."

She also included a warning to others who might be reading her post, to check any lumps they may be worried about.

It comes after Demi underwent surgery to remove a 'golf ball sized' lump she was worried about on her neck, back in April, because doctors thought it could be cancerous.

Ahead of the operation, she told fans: "I'm worried, but I'm sure it will be fine. It's just a shock because you just don't think.

"I was sat there in the waiting room and it was full of old people and I was the only young one there."

In the teary video, she added: "I know loads of women go through this so I'll be fine. It might not even be cancerous.

"They've got to cut it out to be sure. I'm just a bit shocked at the moment. I'll be ok, I'll get it removed and it should be fine."

She added at the time that she only had the lump - which she first noticed in January 2019 - removed because she pushed doctors to look at it again, following her dad's cancer battle.

"Please don't put off getting lumps checked, if appointments keep getting cancelled then you need to chase it up," she said.

"I was supposed to have this appointment 6 months ago. At my scan they said 'everything looks fine' and went to send me on my way. I challenged it and asked if they could do more, in which they said 'oh well we can test the fluid if you want us to?'

"Thank god I asked as it was the fluid that came back potentially cancerous. Always push!"

All our thoughts are with Demi, and we're wishing her a speedy recovery.
