Caroline Flack's boyfriend Lewis Burton has broken his silence on the TV star's death with a heartbreaking post in which he vowed to be her "voice".

The former Love Island presenter's tragic death was confirmed on Saturday by her family.

On Sunday, Lewis shared a image of the two of them together to his Instagram account, writing: "My heart is broken we had something so special.

"I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much I know you felt safe with me you always said I don't think about anything else when I am with you and I was not allowed to be there this time I kept asking and asking.

"I will be your voice baby I promise I will ask all the questions you wanted and I will get all the answers nothing will bring you back but I will try make you proud everyday. I love you with all my heart."

Lewis, 27, and Caroline, 40, were banned from speaking to one another ahead of her impending trial for allegedly assaulting him. Lewis did not want to press charges but the trial went ahead - Caroline also denied the charges.

Just last month, the model spoke out in defence of his girlfriend, saying he was "tired of the lies and abuse" aimed at her following her arrest in her north London home in December.

The model and former pro tennis player, who had been dating Caroline since last summer, wrote on Instagram: "I'm tired of the lies and abuse aimed at my girlfriend. This is not a witch hunt this is someone's life."

ITV also released a statement following the loss of Caroline this weekend.

It read: "Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddedned by this desperately sad news," said a spokesperson.

"Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends."
