Adele Roberts Thanks Fans For Support After Undergoing Bowel Cancer Surgery

The Radio 1 Weekend Breakfast Show host underwent surgery to remove her tumour on Monday.

Adele Roberts has released a statement on Instagram after undergoing surgery for bowel cancer on 25th October.

The Radio 1 DJ was diagnosed with the disease earlier this month, announcing her plight on the day of her surgery. Fans, friends and supporters collectively shared their shock and admiration on Monday's Instagram post.

Fellow radio host Scott Mills was among them, commenting: "We all love you Adele [...] you're awesome and you've GOT [sic] this."

The star underwent an operation to remove the tumour. She is yet to find out whether more treatment will be required.

In the initial statement posted on Monday morning, Adele detailed the symptoms she'd been having in order to raise awareness for the little-discussed strand of cancer. She stated: "I'm hoping it'll reach anyone who might benefit from seeing it or reading it."

She described her symptoms as "struggling with [...] digestion," also noting that she was "embarrassed" in case it turned out not to be serious. The host also shared a post by Bowel Cancer UK, which listed symptoms including 'bleeding from your bottom', 'unexplained weight loss' and 'a pain or lump in your tummy'.

Adele further stated that her family 'saved' her, following a conversation with her Dad which urged her to visit the GP.

In the hopeful update, she included that she "had [her] first solid breakfast watching the day begin this morning".
