Tiger King star Carole Baskin is being sued by the family of her ex husband Don Lewis who is presumed dead after disappearing in 1997.

The suit, filed by Don's three daughters, is an attempt to force Carole to give evidence and further information on the case.

As well as demanding electronic device data and diaries related to Don are handed over, it also offers a $100,000 (£76,000) reward for information on Don's mysterious disappearance.

Despite an investigation at the time, Don's case was never solved and in 2002, he was legally declared dead. Carole inherited most of his $6m (£4.5m) estate.

His disappearance was widely discussed in the popular Netflix series, as well as a number of theories about Carole's involvement.

Many believe it was Carole who was responsible for her husband's death, with Don's family - ex wife Gladys Lewis Cross, daughters Donna Pettis, Lynda Sanchez and Gale Rathbone - and her nemesis Joe Exotic even theorising she crushed Don in her meat grinder and fed him to their tigers.

Carole has always vehemently denied the allegations, explaining "the unsavoury lies are better for getting viewers" (and it's worth noting there's no evidence to back the claims up).

Speaking at a press conference in Florida this week, Don's daughter, Gale Rathbone spoke about the heightened interest into her father's disappearance as a result of the Netflix show.

"Amazingly, our little family tragedy has become your tragedy," she said. "Our search for closure and truth has become your mission also."

Meanwhile, Carole told the Associated Press: "It's been my policy not to discuss pending litigation until it's been resolved.

"I had told some news outlets that I thought the press conference on 10th August was just a publicity stunt, but at that time was not aware there would be pending litigation."
