First look pictures have now dropped of the Super Nintendo World in Japan, and it looks like a gamer's dream.

Although the exciting new area of the theme park was supposed to be launching this summer, providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane for every nineties kid, it suffered a delay due to the ongoing pandemic.

But now it's been announced to be opening on 4th February 2021 - so soon!

And what's more, it has whet our appetites with a few first look pictures of the rides to keep us going until we're finally able to jet out there and try them out for ourselves.

While we were previously treated to some cartoon mock ups of the park, in real life pictures from the Osaka theme park, shared on Universal Studios Japan's official Twitter account, we get to see the the colourful Nintendo Zone for the first time.

The park's social media said: "Team up with friends to battle rivals and power up. We are born to play! Immerse yourself with thrills the whole family can enjoy at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.

"Let loose in this incredible land of play. Join the #WeAreMario movement. Let's-a-go!

"Universal Studios Japan will hold its grand opening of the world's first SUPER NINTENDO WORLD on February 4th, 2021 - bringing to life a highly themed and immersive land featuring Nintendo's legendary worlds, characters and adventures where guests will be able to play inside their favourite Nintendo games."

In the real life snaps, you can see a Mario Kart themed rollercoaster, which zooms around Bowser's Castle, using incredible augmented reality and projection mapping technology.

The best part is you get to wear a hat just like Mario's as you ride. Universal Studios Japan teases: "Race your way to victory! Iconic Mario Kart courses have been brought to life with cutting-edge technology.

"Challenge enemies with shells! Aim for the finish line with Mario and Peach! The world's first interactive Mario Kart theme park ride will leave you with a rush of adrenaline!"

You can also jump on Yoshi Adventure, which involves a 'treasure hunt' to uncover all of his eggs.

The Super Nintendo World will recreate the Mushroom Kingdom, with areas inspired by Bowser and Princess Peach's Castles.

The two pictured rides come in the "first phase," and there'll even be electronic wristbands (known as 'Power Up Bands') to track your progress via a free app.

To truly immerse visitors into the gaming world, the bands will allow guests to collect 'coins' while competing with other park visitors.

It's pretty much the closest you could get to being in the actual game yourself!

One such example of a Power Up Band Key Challenge on offer is a a battle with Bowser Jr to find the Golden Mushroom. But can you reign victorious?

While we don't yet have pics, Bloomberg are also teasing a Donkey Kong themed area is to come in the future. Eeeek.

"This will be magical to walk through and experience," wrote one fan after seeing the images online.

While another penned: "IT LOOKS SO DOPPPEE".

A third chipped in: "Yeeeeeeess! I'm a 29-year-old and I can't wait to visit Super Nintendo World."

Speaking about the park earlier this year, CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, Tom Williams said: "It's a whole new separate area of the park. It's got food, it's got merchandise. The first phase will have two rides, Super Mario Kart as well as Yoshi's Adventures.

"It's the best, and we've tested them all, and they're killers. It's a great lineup. It takes it to the whole next level. It's gonna redefine what a park experience is like. It really is special."

For many, Japan is a long way to travel to experience the Super Nintendo World - especially in the current climate - and many fans are hoping a US version could be on the cards soon.

However, creating a new themed area within a Universal park is thought to take five to six years in total - so we may have a wait on our hands!
