If, like us, you spent a considerable chunk of your childhood years playing Mario Kart, then we have some big news for you.

Video game giants Nintendo revealed their latest Mario Kart game in an announcement yesterday - and fans are in for a big surprise.

Buckle in, because Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit lets your race a life-size kart around your own home, and it looks like so much fun.

Launching October 16th and priced at £99.99, the new game transforms the rooms in your house into a virtual racecourse, using the Nintendo Switch.

Teasing the game, Nintendo said: "Turn your home into a race track with Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit."

Um, anyone else very ready to waste a whole lot of our time playing this?

To create your own home race track, you need to start by setting up a real, physical course, assembling the four gates provided in any shape you prefer.

Check out an example of a physical track below:

Once assembled, you're ready to play! Using the Switch function, the cars and race course will magically appear on your screen.

Just like the kid in the promo video, players can go speeding under furniture and swerve the living room rug until you meet the finish line - and there are plenty of in-game features and challenges, too.

"Watch as your home is transformed into ocean depths, a sandy desert and more from the world of Mario Kart," say Nintendo.

Players can amp up the speed by driving through a Mushroom, but watch out for other racer's Red Shells as these will make you come to a stop.

We think we speak for kids (and big kids) everywhere when we say that 16th October can't come soon enough - we're just sad the game wasn't released in time for lockdown!

Nintendo's Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will be available to buy two varieties - Mario and Luigi - from 16th October for a price tag of £99.99 each.
