"12 Rules Every Bridesmaid Should Live By" Goes Viral And Everyone's Divided

“Your problems do not exist on the wedding day – no whining allowed.”

A list of "12 rules every bridesmaid should live by" is being shared online - and it's fair to say they're dividing opinions.

The strict rules were shared on a wedding shaming Facebook group (yep, that's actually a real thing), and hundreds of social media users slammed the demanding list.

"If you have to demand or tell your friends how to act, or how to be respectful, should they really be your bridesmaids... or even your friends?" the post was captioned.

The first point begins with "you're not just the bridesmaid - you're the therapist, personal shopper, secretary, and straight up back-haver."

It continues "don't complain about your bridesmaid dress unless the bride has complained about it first."

Point three reads "ya'll need to eat before the wedding - there's a free bar ahead of you," before referencing point eight, which says "at no point should you be drunker than the bride."

According to the list, they must be on "lipstick patrol" all night, step in if a chatty uncle is talking the brides ear off and absolutely under no circumstances bring up an ex during a speech.

Bridesmaids must also check toilet cubicles saying anything about anyone and dance with the least attractive groomsman at least once.

Number 10 reads "your problems do not exist on the wedding day - no whining allowed."

The list claims hooking up with cute cousin is fine, but bridesmaids must check with the bride before hooking up with the cute brother.

And finally, if the dancefloor is empty, it's up to the bridesmaids to rectify that - which has got to be our favourite rule of all.

While some social media users slammed the list, commenting: "I hate it... you're a bridesmaid, not a secret service agent. Chill out," others argued it simply made "common sense."

"Sorry, a lot of these seem like common sense if the bride is a really good/best friend," one person commented.
