First comes the proposal, then comes the obligatory 'he put a ring on it' Instagram post.

Whether you want to show off your shiny diamond or share a loved-up snap with your new fiancé, creating the perfect social media post can take a lot of thought and consideration.

But one woman decided to break her engagement news to her friends and family on social media with a slightly unusual choice of photo.

On first glance, the engagement picture looks fairly ordinary. The bride-to-be shared a picture of her left hand wearing her sparkly new engagement ring.

But if you look closer - it's not the giant rock on her hand that has grabbed everyone's attention.

In the background of her well-staged snap, you can see her husband-to-be deciding at the exact moment to relieve himself in the bushes directly behind her hand.

Check it out below:

How romantic!

The woman clearly has a sense of humour and captioned the photo, "Dream man, dream ring, dream post proposal photo."

Well, it's not your standard 'I said YES' announcement is it?

The post has since been shared on Reddit and has left readers in hysterics.

One user commented, "For a second I thought he was fishing."

Another added, "At least she knows what to expect".

A third joked, "This post got me really p****d off"

We're pretty sure she knew what she was posting but it is a good lesson in how you must always background check your photos before sharing on social media.

In other wedding news, Twitter users were left in stitches after a groom posted a photo of his sister falling over during his big day.

Writing on social media, he said: "Six years ago I married the love of my life and my sister fell over."

Alongside the tweet was a photo of the happy couple sharing a kiss as newlywed husband and wife - and in the background, the groom's sister can be seen totally horizontal on the floor.
