Not all heroes wear capes.

A woman has uncovered an amazing cleaning hack to get pen marks off fabric sofas and she's shared the video on Facebook to help other desperate men and women whose children have gone wild in the living room with a magic marker.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips page, 33-year-old mum-of-two Sarah Rhodes from Wolverhampton said: "My son kindly decided to draw biro on my fabric chair...heard that hairspray and a damp cloth would remove it...and it did!"

In the video, Sarah zooms in on the pen mark in question before spraying a hefty amount of hairspray on the stain. She then dabs at it gently with a wet cloth before rubbing harder on the stain which magically disappears in no time.

Followers of the post - which has now been liked more than 1,200 times - were seriously impressed with the tip, with one follower saying: "This is magic. I am so tempted to scribble on my furniture just to try this."

Another said: "WOW...Love to see it when a hack really works," while a third commented: "This is a god send! Thank you! I'm not going over my couch with it!"

"Thank you so much for the video. So many people say this works and that works but it was great to see exactly how to do it and how it works."

While Sarah hadn't tried the handy trick before, she decided to film her attempt just in case it did work: "I didn't think it would work but I thought let's video just in case!" she commented on the post. "Something very satisfying about getting a stain out!"

We do love a good hack - we're still obsessing over the video ASOS posted on its Instagram earlier this week showing how to turn a normal pair of socks into no-shows that aren't invisible above your shoes.

Whatever next?!
