Most women know all too well of the joys heavy periods can cause. But while we've come to accept leaking through pads and tampons at night and agonising cramps disturbing our sleep, it seems like the other sex still has no idea what we experience on our periods.
One woman has shared a text exchange to Twitter in which a man reveals he had no idea women's periods continue through the night, not letting up.
She captioned her tweet: "Men amaze me every day," and we don't think we could have put it better ourselves.

"I woke up in period blood which is always fun!" quipped Twitter user @farahgamo in the messages. But the man she was texting queried: "How does that even happen?"
"Umm... I got my period overnight??" Farah replied, clearly a little lost for words. To which he declared: "You're really expecting me to know how periods work... that's kinda crazy."
The woman went on to point out that he was a grown man, but things began to get a little heated between the pair.

"I meant I didn't know it was possible to get it overnight," the unidentified man clarified, "That's it."
"How would it only happen during the day? You think our uterus waits for us to wake up?" wrote a bemused Farah. "Cause the body shuts down during sleep?" put forward her friend.
Wow.
Speaking about sharing the messages online, Farah told Metro: "Most people laughed with me while some insulted me saying I'm a b*tch and should've educated him."

She added: "But really if you're 24 and have got no semblance of an idea how women's menstrual cycles work that's your conscious decision to be ignorant!"
Naturally, many other women agreed with her argument and made jokes of their own.
"Yes. It is true. When we sleep, our breathing comes to a complete stop and our hearts stop beating. Our soul is then transfered to the cloud where we have our dreams stored. Your body will know when it's time to get up and will call your soul back. The human body is amazing," exclaimed one.

And another joked: "You mean to tell me that all this time I coulda just slept all week and avoided this mess."
