A little girl who was "ashamed" to wear her new glasses outside got an adorable response from fellow spectacle-wearing Twitter users.

Darcey Docherty's dad James posted a snap of his daughter to Twitter earlier this week, explaining that his four-year-old had to get glasses but she was embarrassed to wear them out.

"My wee girl has had to get glasses and she feels ashamed wearing them outside the house," tweeted James from Glasgow. "Sure she's beautiful."

And Twitter users reacted in the best way possible, by reassuring the little girl that she's totally rocking her new pink frames by sharing pictures of themselves sporting their own sets.

"Only the cool kids wear glasses! And your daughters are PINK... well Jell," shared one person along with a selfie of them wearing specs.

Doing exactly the same, another tweeted: "Ahh that is heartbreaking to hear she feels that bad. From one glasses wearer to another I think she looks beautiful in her glasses! I love the colour & Duke and Lilly think she looks amazing in them too. Sending love & hugs."

"Wee Maggie and I think they are super cool," replied somebody else with a picture of their dog wearing a pair.

And the responses showing the little girl some love continued to pour in on Twitter:

Overwhelmed by the amazing reply, dad James then tweeted: "Unbelievable the amount of Love and kindness that's been thrown at this tweet, you've made a wee girls day, thank you so much.

"Hit me right in the feels watching her wee face seeing all the comments by people and kids with glasses on."

Speaking of all the replies, four-year-old Darcey told Pretty52: "They look super cool, because they have glasses, and it makes [me] feel happy."

Where can we get a pair of specs just like Darcey?!
