There's no relationship quite like that between a dog and its owner, so imagine how it would feel to be reunited with your four-legged friend after three long years apart.

Giorgi Bereziani from Georgia was heartbroken when he lost his dog, Jorge, three years ago - however, one day the 62-year-old received the phone call he'd been waiting for all along.

A woman working in an opera house in Tbilsi, Georgia, rang him up to tell him there was a dog, which matched the description of the man's missing pooch, lying in front of her shop.

Giorgi decided to film the moment he and the shop owner approached the pooch, who was lying underneath a tree on the street.

In the video you can hear the man approaching the dog and say: "It looks so much like him, can you see him?

"Can you see him? Here. At the base of the tree. Jorge? Jorge it is you!"

At first the sleepy doggo looked confused, but as soon as he hears Giorgi calling out his name, he instantly jumped up and cried with joy as he's reunited with his long-lost best friend.

The heartwarming reunion came after three long years of putting up posters and combing the streets without any success.

As the two embrace, Giorgi says: "Aww sweet boy, how are you boy. What is it? What do you want? Sweet boy," while Jorge cries with happiness to be back with his owner.

In the video, which has been viewed on Youtube more than 500,000 times, the dog has a yellow tag on his ear meaning the local authorities thought he was a stray dog, took him in, vaccinated him, considered him harmless, and then released him back out on the street.

The woman who first spotted the pooch asked: "That's your dog?"

From watching the clip there's absolutely no doubt that Jorge belongs to Giorgi and we couldn't be happier they were reunited.
