Bring It On is one of the defining teen movies of a generation. And now, the 2000 cheerleading rivalry cult-comedy is heading to the stage.

Selladoor Worldwide, who is producing the stage show, announced the news on Saturday along with some early casting news.

Amber Davies, the winner of the 2017 series of Love Island, will star as leader cheerleader 'Campbell' alongside Olympic gymnast Louis Smith as 'Cameron' in the upcoming tour of UK and Ireland.

It's the 22-year-old's second time treading the boards, after she landed her West End debut in 2018 as 'Judy Bernly' in Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 The Musical, touring the UK.

"NEXT ADVENTURE :rotating_light::rotating_light: sooo excited announce I will be playing the leading lady Campbell in the First UK TOUR OF "BRING IT ON THE MUSICAL" here's some behind the scene shots of our poster shoot we did on Wednesday.. eeekkkk," she wrote on Twitter.

Louis, who won bronze and silver medals for Great Britain at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, has appeared in 'Rip It Up' in the West End and on tour.

"It's all happening!!! Cats out the bag!! This is going to be awesome bringing 'Bring It On The Musical' to you guys on its UK Tour. Let's Gooooo @Amber_Davies7," he wrote. Bring It On The Musical will open at Birmingham Hippodrome on 2nd June 2020.

According to London Theatre One, the musical will take audiences on "a high-flying, energy-fuelled journey which tackles friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness, wrapped up in explosive choreography and tricks."

However, it's set to stray slightly from the movie, not least with the character's names.

LTO adds: "Cheer-royalty and newly crowned Squad Captain, Campbell, should be embarking on her most cheertastic senior year at Truman High School. When she's forced to move to the neighbouring hard-knock Jackson High, Campbell fears her life is over. But an unlikely friendship catapults Campbell back into contention with a powerhouse squad and the fire to achieve the impossible."

You can find the full tour dates for UK and Ireland here, as well as book tickets.
