People Are Seriously Confused About This 9/11 Wedding

A social media post about a 9/11 themed wedding has people confused and angry.

A post on the subreddit r/Cringetopia showing a 9/11 themed wedding, with the invites featuring a cartoon image of the twin towers, has people confused and upset.

The save the dates were printed with the words 'Never Forget' followed by the date of September 11, 2021, with the '11' in the middle using silhouettes of the World Trade Centre.

The person who posted it wrote, "A friend worked a 9/11 themed wedding."

The photo was then reposted on another subreddit called r/trashy, with angry comments underneath about the theme.

The invites use the twin towers instead of an '11'. (

One person said, "I don't think getting married on 9/11 is inherently insensitive, but making your wedding 9/11 themed definitely is."

Another said, "This is, without a doubt, the most trashy, tasteless, self-aggrandising, obscene, revolting thing I've seen on the internet."

A third wrote: "Straight up disgusting."

This is not the only 9/11 themed wedding posted on social media that has people confused, with a post on the subreddit r/weddingshaming showing a couple using the wedding hashtag #twofalltogerther for the wedding on September 11, implying a reference to the fall of the twin towers.

The couple used a 9/11 wedding hashtag. (

Though it has been taken down now, Redditors claimed the couple also used the hashtag #jihadtobethere.

Though not quite the same as a 9/11 themed wedding, people were still not happy about it, with one person saying: "I'm so confused by the whole thing. Can't believe hey thought this would be ok."

Another said, "I couldn't be friends in real life with people who actually thought anything related to the 9/11 terror attacks is actually funny."

A third wrote, "Why have I seen more than one 9/11 themed wedding stuff this year? Tacky as f***."

Both of the hashtags written in the original Reddit post have been removed from the couple's website, with them now using a hashtag related to their names.
