Hairdresser Mortified After Predictive Text Fail Leaves Dad Thinking She's An Escort

Hairdresser Mortified After Predictive Text Fail Leaves Dad Thinking She's An Escort

A hairdresser typed and sent a text to her mum asking for 'conditioner' but her phone's predictive text changed the word to 'condoms'.

Predictive text can be extremely useful but it can also land people in very sticky situations when it corrects a typo to an out-of-context word. This happened to a hairdresser who was left mortified after accidentally asking her mum for condoms instead of conditioner for her 'clients' in a hilarious fail.

Kirsty McKee, 34, quickly typed a text message and sent it to her mum Pauline McKee after realising she was out of conditioner and her first client was scheduled to arrive at 9am the next day.

The mum-of-three was unable to leave her young children alone and nip to the shops, so she asked her mum to drop some off for her as she had 'got clients coming' - but accidentally wrote 'condoms' instead of conditioner.

Mere minutes after Kirsty sent her urgent request, her bemused mum replied flagging the typo and that her 'mortified' dad Ivan McKee, 59, had read the message too.

Red-faced Kirsty scrambled to send an apologetic text explaining that she meant conditioner not contraceptives with Pauline pinging back a reply that now 'your dad thinks you're an escort'.

Kirsty, from Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, said: "As I'm a mobile hairdresser, clients come to my house or I go to theirs.

"I only realised the night before as I was lying in bed that I'd run out of conditioner.

"I was at home on my own with the littles and couldn't leave them on their own so I texted my mum asking her to drop some over when she could.

"I'm a fast texter and always click send before reading what I've put and I was just about to get tucked up in bed.

"I didn't realise my mistake, my mum told me. Not only did I ask for 'condoms' I then mentioned I had 'clients' coming in the morning.

"My dad was in the kitchen where her phone was on charge and he saw the message, he was mortified. He ran through to the front room and threw it [the phone] at my mum.

"My dad is very old fashioned, he doesn't take things as a joke - he's quite serious, my mum has a funny sense of humour and joked 'that's so funny, your dad thinks you're an escort now'.

"My mum said my dad was just chuffing [huffing and puffing] - he was sighing and becoming agitated.

"When I saw the message come in from my mum I was mortified too. I could just imagine my dad's face."

After rectifying her predictive text fail, Kirsty said she's certainly learned her lesson - and would read messages carefully before hitting 'send' in future.

Kirsty said: "I've had some other text fails too, for example when I've typed in 'pennies' it always comes up as 'penis' and I don't know why.

"It's the way I type, I do it too quickly - I'm a very fast typer.

"I've definitely learned my lesson, I now read back what I'm putting before sending messages.

"My mum got me some conditioner too - so all was good."
