If you've ever had to get kids ready for school, you'll know that it makes everything ten times slower. Not only do you have to drag yourself out of bed, but you have to get up even earlier to make sure the little ones are up, fed and ready for the school day.
Now, a new study has proven that all that unpaid labour actually equates to working an entire day in the office every single week.
The study was conducted by Kellogg's and based on answers from 2000 working parents.

The research found that, the average parent conducts around 43 tasks before their 9am start.
These tasks include making everyone breakfast, getting the kids to brush their teeth, packing their lunch, brushing their hair, prepping for after school clubs, getting them to school, and looking around for misplaced items.
All of that work adds up, and none of it includes the things a parent will have to do for themselves. The study found that to get all of this done, the average parent gets up at 6:01am, with a third admitting to getting up as early as 5:30am.

According to the study, most parents felt like they had done a day's work before 11am - which, if you've ever been in that position, will surely have felt before. T
his busy routine adds up day by day and ends up equating to an extra 10 hours and 15 minutes of work a week - that's more than a shift in an office.
All of that work doesn't even take into account the tasks parents have to do for their kids after school or at the weekend, which likely adds up to many more hours of labour.

A spokesperson for Kellogg's said: "It's clearly a case of wake and work for British parents who are packing in a whole additional working day every week on top of their 9-5 jobs."
If you've got kids, there's not much you can do to bring that amount of hard work down, but you can make sure you take care of yourself as well a looking after everyone else.
