Whether you were a Cinderella superfan or a die-hard Jasmine supporter, many of us had a favourite Disney princess growing up.

Now, thanks to a party entertainment business in Southern California, it's possible for families to hire and video chat with their favourite princess over Zoom.

That might mean a virtual slumber party with Sleeping Beauty (remember your cosiest PJs and a mug of hot choccie!) or a personalised birthday message from Elsa.

The genius concept comes from actress Ali Williams, who founded Princess & Me Parties back in 2014.

Originally, Ali employed performers she met through the theme park circuit as characters-for-hire, taking bookings for everything from children's parties to summer fetes.

But during lockdown, the business had to adapt to social distancing measures, and Zoom Princess Play Time was born.

For parents and children stuck indoor during quarantine, the idea has proved hugely popular, offering little ones a moment of magical escapism.

Princess play time calls typically last 45 minutes and cost $10 (around £8.50) per household and can be enjoyed anywhere in the world.

The sessions are incredibly creative, using props and themes to keep children engaged. Think story times, colouring in, Q&As, dancing, and games.

Meanwhile, a personalised pre-recorded message for your little one will cost $20 (around £16.40). Bespoke recordings will include a customised message, singing - and can of course be played again and again.

Just check out the video message above from the Princess Jasmine performer above, who could literally have stepped out of Aladdin.

"Happy Birthday Princess!" she says, with sparkling eyes. "Genie told me it's your birthday, he knows everything. So, five years old? Wow! Shall we count to five together? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! How magical!"

Seriously, our minds are blown. She even nails Jasmine's voice.

It's not just princesses, either. From Alice in Wonderland to Marvel superheroes, there are loads of characters to choose from.

We reckon Zoom Princess Playtime is going to be welcomed with open arms by families during lockdown.
