As hordes of shoppers head to Primark on the beloved fashion retailer's official reopening day, one decided to take their safety measures to extreme lengths by wearing full PPE.

Clearly taking no risks, the shopper was spotted arriving at Birmingham's flagship branch wearing head-to-toe PPE (personal protective equipment) including a bodysuit, gloves and a face mask with a shopping bag in tow.

Perhaps the strangest thing about this is how non-strange it feels in the current culture, right?! It can only be 2020 when end of the world chic is a fairly causal sight.

Today marks the budget clothing chain's first day of reopening since coronavirus lockdown measures were imposed in the UK on March 23rd.

The super popular store saw eager fashionistas queuing around the block since 5am in some areas of the country, ahead of its 10am opening time. All 153 of its UK stores opened since getting the green light from the government last month.

In a move to boost the economy, it was announced shops like clothing and homeware stores can open from today (15th June), joining outdoor markets and car showrooms, which opened on June 1st.

The change in guidance comes as the government seeks to reduce the lockdown regulations further, following successful attempts to reduce the R rate and keep infection levels down.

The Prime Minister said that the government would be issuing the retail sector strict guidance they would have to adhere to in order to reopen, "detailing the measures they should take to meet the necessary social distancing and hygiene standards".

Primark CEO, Paul Marchant said: "We have really missed our customers and we are delighted to be back on 15 June and able to provide them with the quality, affordable products they love from Primark.

"While it might take a little longer to get into store, once inside, customers will find all their favourite Primark products and plenty of choice as usual.

"We have worked hard to make sure that clear signage and extra help will be there to guide them through the changes we have made to allow for social distancing.

"We are also asking customers to respect the measures we have put in place to help ensure shopping at Primark is an enjoyable, safe experience for everyone."
