We've all been there while shopping - you've gone to pay for your goods on a self-service checkout, only for your card to decline. It's happened to the best of us, and always at the worst possible time.
But Poundland has a fresh helping of humiliation for those who get their payment type rejected, thanks to their brand new till alerts.

The national store chain has replaced their usual till notifications with messages from Father Christmas himself for the festive season - which is all fun and games until your card declines.
Those who had visited the store and found their card had declined, or had entered the wrong pin, reported being left "humiliated" when Ol' Saint Nick's cheerful voice boomed the card had been rejected before breaking out into song.
In a video that has been posted to TikTok showing the new voice alerts, Santa Claus' clear voice rings out: "Card not accepted, is it on the naughty list?
"Because I'm checking it twice, I'm going to find out whose naughty or nice."
It then breaks out into a rousing chorus of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'.
The TikTok video reads: "So guys, I accidentally used the wrong card so it got declined - listen to this self-checkout machine.
"OMG I'm absolutely screaming!
"Nah, I'm actually emailing Poundland HR, how f****** embarrassing!"
One person commented: "This happened to me yesterday! The most embarrassing thing ever."
A second said: "I work at Poundland and this haunts me."
Meanwhile, a third commented: "No joke, I was humiliated. Imagine Santa telling everyone you're broke?"
But not everyone dislikes the new change, with one customer writing: "Shopping in Poundland and hearing Santa's voice on the self-serve tills was the cheer up I didn't know I needed today."
A spokesperson for Poundland told The Mirror: "Santa took time out of his very busy schedule to do this.
"How can anyone be a grinch about Santa?
"Our seasonal checkout voices from Elvis to Yoda are part of what makes Poundland, Poundland.
"We haven't lost our sense of humour despite this being an unusual year."
