People Are Selling Poundland Homeware For 10x The Original Price On eBay

People Are Selling Poundland Homeware For 10x The Original Price On eBay

Here's a lesson in checking that things you buy second hand aren't still on sale: people are selling Poundland's vases for ten times the price on eBay.

The animal vases - costing, you guessed it, £1 - are being flogged on the selling site for over £10 in some cases. Cheeky or what?

The swindle was first called out on Facebook page Poundland Appreciation Society where one particularly crafty selling was found to be wheeling the vases - which come in giraffe, panther and zebra designs - for £35 plus £3.49 postage.

What's more, the seller even had the audacity to call them 'vintage'.

"Even just the postage is more expensive than the price of all 3," correctly pointed out one shopper.

"Yes I've heard about people selling poundshop stuff on etsy and calling its vintage and giving it a massive price," said another.

The retro-looking vases were launched in January and were hugely popular with bargain hunters everywhere adding them to their interiors.

What's more, they're still on sale now. While the aforementioned seller seems to have removed his listing after being cottoned on to (that or some unfortunate soul bought them), a quick search on eBay brings up countless listings for the vases.

Prices range from £5.99 to £19.99, with some sold individually and some as a set of three.

One zebra vase currently has six watchers, while another has a 'buy it now' price of £8.

A spokesperson from Poundland told Tyla: "While they look so good we're not surprised people are trying their luck on eBay, but there's no need to get ripped off, there are plenty in store for £1 and the price is in black and white. And we expect our new black cat and giraffe to be just as popular."

And the vases aren't the only Poundland product to be getting their second wind on selling sites.

Commenters on the Facebook post also shared their discoveries of people selling all manner of Poundland ornaments, wall hangings and tea lights. The cheek of it!

A search pound the budget store's popular Disney canvas tote bags are being sold for £10.50 for three, and another seller is flogging £20 for seven.

Though a little more honestly, these sellers make clear they're from Poundland in the product title. Fair play then.
