If you're the proud owner of a hilarious pet, listen up! A competition has just launched and is on the search for the funniest pet picture - so it's time to get your cameras out!

Just in time for National Pet Day on 11th April, the Animal Friends Comedy Pet Photo Awards are looking to see wonderful pets bringing love, joy and, above all, laughs during lockdown.

All you have to do is send a snap or video of your pet in action. If you need some inspo', last year's winner was Noodles, a rescue dog from Germany who scored top prize for his cheeky impersonation of a goofy guard dog, captured by owner Elke Vogelsang.

All photographers are welcome, both amateur or professionals, and of any age, so you can get the whole family involved.

Competition judges will include TV presenter Kate Humble and star of BBC's Vets in Practice, Emma Milne, as well as Elke (and Noodles). Two children have also been invited to judge - 12-year-old Jack and nine-year-old Tia.

To enter, all you need to do is send an image or video by 15th August. Finalists will be announced in October and the winners crowned in November!

While there's no limit on entries, competitors have to buy a 'ticket' to take part (£1.95 for one entry, £5 for 5 or £10 for 15).

"We know what pets bring to our lives," said Wes Pearson, CEO at Animal Friends.

"They offer us companionship, support, unconditional love and so much joy. The quirks they have, the (many!) faces they pull, the peculiar behaviours that make them unique; life is simply better with them around.

"Our partnership with Comedy Pet Photography Awards is a bold and exciting new step towards helping thousands of animals across the UK secure a happier and healthier future.

"That's why Animal Friends is thrilled to be the proud sponsor of The Comedy Pet Awards 2021!"

Meanwhile Tom Sullam, co-founder of the Comedy Pet Photo Awards added: "We are so chuffed to be working with Animal Friends Insurance this year and their wider family of pet loving supporters.

"They support a huge number of animal welfare charities, which would otherwise be really struggling. In these gloomy times that we have all been living through, it is important to keep our spirits up and maintain a positive outlook.

"Our pets are a great source of humour, support and positivity, so we can't wait to see your hilarious pet images."

With so many hilarious animals around, choosing a winner will certainly be tricky!
