Every parent knows just how nail biting it can be watching their toddler learn to walk. After all, just one little slip can lead to floods of tears.
Which is why one mum from Russia came up with a genius idea to protect her little one while she finds her feet. Margarita Nemirovskaia decided to cover a cap with some kitchen sponges, creating a soft safety helmet for her daughters.
You can watch a video of the homemade cap below!

Sewing some kitchen sponges onto a variety of caps, Margarita first used the spongey hats with two-year-old Emilia before carrying on the tradition with 11-month-old Lilya.
"The idea came to me suddenly," said Margarita.
"It lets the girls learn to stand and get used to the space around them but if they fall there's no bumps or bruises."
Margarita first thought of the idea after she found shop bought helmets didn't suit Emilia's head and were too large and heavy for the toddler.

After coming up with the genius idea of using a soft cap covered in kitchen sponges, Margarita decided to share her idea with friends and followers on social media.
While she uses three sponges per cap, Margarita explained you could sew on a few more for extra protection.
"The idea is great, it softens the blow for if they do fall and lessens the chances of hurting themselves," she continued.

"I had a lot of positive reactions to the video but did have a few negative ones too.
"However, I would definitely recommend it, you can even sew more sponges on to offer more protection."
Such a brilliant idea!
