A mum has been praised for teaching her five daughters that virginity does not exist.

Taking to TikTok, Cayce LaCorte - aka @book_mama - explained she is raising her girls to believe there is no such thing as virginity, explaining it is a "patriarchal concept and serves no purpose".

Cayce was responding to a question posted by fellow TikTok user, @nevadashareef, who asked other parents to name something about the way they have raised their kids, that others would find weird.

You can watch the clip below:

Speaking about the issue, Cayce said: "It is a patriarchal concept used to control women and serves no purpose - other than making women feel bad about ourselves.

"Just because some guy randomly sticks his penis in you at some point in your life does not change your worth, it does not change who you are, it doesn't do anything other than it happened.

"Sex is important. It's a big deal. It should always be a big deal. It has nothing to do with your first time...it's just ridiculous. The whole concept is ridiculous.

"And I get a lot of c**p from other mums saying 'oh don't you think it will make your daughters promiscuous' I was like no, I'm raising them to be good people and have solid foundations and make their own choices and make smart, intelligent choices, not because some book says not to."

After posting the video, Cayce received heaps of praise from followers, with one person writing: "Omg! As a therapist there is so much praise I want to drop here for you!"

While another said: "We need to normalise this! You just shifted my perspective in 15 secs, it makes so much sense. Thank you so much."

And one added: "I have two girls and this is a great idea. Plus, why is promiscuity generally viewed as a bad thing?"

Others called for Cayce to post more videos on the topic, with one commenting: "And the award for best mum goes to you!"
