Shopping Centre Will Look After Your Dog While You Do Your Christmas Shopping
In a study of 1,000 British pooch-owners, 36 per cent said they spend more time away from their dogs in December.
This was down to activities like late-night Christmas shopping (55 per cent), busy social schedules (38 per cent) and office parties (20 per cent), leading to a whopping 67 per cent of participants stating they feel a sense of guilt for spending more time away from home.
That's why the folks at Westfield London have teamed up with dog care experts Urban Mutts to open up a festive doggy drop off service called the Merry Mutts Hotel.
Owners can shop while their four-legged friends get the ultimate festive treatment from expert mutt minders at the Christmassy haven.
There are fellow furry friends to meet, treats from Santa Paws to be eaten, tricks to be learned - and there's even the option to have a puppy portrait taken. We feel a new family Christmas card coming on.
Judging by the adorable video of dogs frolicking in and around the exclusive doggy winter cabin, the pooches are impressed with the service.
There's a charitable twist too, with 100 per cent of donations from the Merry Mutts Motel going to Wild at Heart Foundation and the charity's work in international dog rescue, adoption projects, neutering programmes and research into new sterilisation techniques.
Barry Karacostas, Co-founder of Urban Mutts, said: "We're excited to be working with Westfield London to launch the Merry Mutts Motel.
"Westfield London has created something that we know will enhance the social experience and happiness of dogs within the capital at Christmas time and we can't wait to meet all of our guests and give them a stay to remember."
Nikki Tibbles, Founder of Wild at Heart Foundation, added: "We're delighted that Westfield London has chosen us as the charity partner for Merry Mutts Motel. At Wild at Heart Foundation, we dedicate our time to ensuring the happiness and safety of these amazing creatures.
"Not every dog is lucky enough to have a home this Christmas so all the money that people donate for having their dogs visit the Merry Mutts Motel, will go straight to helping stray dogs all over the world."
The festive pop-up will be open for five days from 4th-8th December at the Winter Village market in Westfield Square, welcoming dogs on weekdays from 5-9pm with two-hour slots (5-7pm and 7-9pm) and 12-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Dog owners can book a space for their canine companion here.
Forget the shopping, we'll stay in the dog cabin please.
