Luxurious Maldives Resort Is Hiring A Bookworm To Run Its Beachside Bookshop

Is this a dream?!

A stunning resort in The Maldives is looking for somebody to run its beachside shop.

Yep, if you're a bookworm then you could up-ship and move to the stunning Soneva Fushi resort and start up a new career there.

We have to admit, this sounds more than a little appealing right now!

The shop is essentially looking for a 'Barefoot Bookseller' to run its pop-up bookshop, set on the island's white sandy beaches.

The chosen applicant will get to live on the idyllic island themselves - meaning they can spend their time off soaking up the sun on the beach, exploring the beautiful sights or even engaging in a spot of snorkelling.

The resort is literally picture perfect (

The role is looking for someone to fill the position for six months (which is just as long as Boris says the new Covid restrictions are set to last for... maybe its fate?!)

In partnership with Ultimate Library, you'll be trained in running the bookshop before you head off to The Maldives, so you're prepared when you get there.

Aimée Johnson, a former employee at the resort, said the role was everything she'd hoped.

"Being the Barefoot Bookseller was an absolute dream," she recalled.

"I got to meet amazing people, work with incredible books and live on a stunning luxury island. Very much the dream job!"

If you need any more convincing that this role is something special, just have a scroll on the Barefoot Bookseller Instagram, where previous workers have shared their idyllic experiences.

Applicants must be passionate about books (obvs), comfortable chatting to shoppers of all ages and full of fiction and non-fiction recommendations to offer out.

They will also be tasked with running the Barefoot Bookseller blog, so being a good wordsmith is a must, as is a knowledge of social media, so you can run their accounts.

Other duties include carrying out sales, managing stock, hosting writing classes for adults and children, and running literary events, such as guest appearances from writers and lectures.

If you want to apply, you can do so on the Barefoot Bookseller website by the 30th September 2020.

Good luck!
