Kevin The Carrot Returns As Aldi's New Christmas Ad Drops In Full

Aldi has now dropped its full Christmas advert for 2020 - because, really, in times like these it's never too early for some festive cheer...

Posting the ad on its social media, the supermarket wrote: "Kevin's out in the cold. Will he get home in time for Christmas?"

It comes after Aldi posted a teaser clip last weekend, showing Kevin and Turkey jetting through the sky in a plane before accidentally getting ejected from the aircraft and having to parachute back to earth.

The full clip shows what happens next, as one of his kids looks out of the window at the night sky, and sees a blaze of orange whizz past, believing it to be a shooting star.

"It's not Christmas until my Daddy gets home," his other little one says, touchingly.

We're then treated to the music from Home Alone, with the narrator telling us: "Kevin the Carrot was a long way from home. Would he spend Christmas all cold and alone?"

We then see Kevin as an action adventure hero, fighting the odds to get back to his family, and even befriending a hedgehog to help him defeat the elements (queue the Pirate of the Caribbean music, naturally...)

Things don't look good for Kevin at one point, as giant icicles dangle nearby and he braves a freezing cold river.

But then who should save the day but Father Christmas, who tells the lost carrot: "Let's get you home. I've got an idea."

We then see our favourite bearded present provider pick up Kevin and new hedgehog friend and place them in the basket on front of his bike, before cycling off into sky.

Now, it's ET music that's playing as he ventures to get them back to his loved ones, and eventually succeeds.

Taking to the comments, Aldi shoppers are already going mad for the sweet clip, and praising it for boosting their morale.

"Love it @AldiUK well done this really cheered me up. Can we have some more #Kevinthecarrot adverts please?," one wrote.

Meanwhile, another penned: "Best ad yet, am already wondering how you can top that next year."

Making a nod to the fact the ad doesn't mention coronavirus or the current climate at all, a third agreed: "Aldi it's brilliant. I love it. An advert with no political correctness, or virtue signalling,(unlike other retailers)amusing, and Christmassy. Well done!"

We must admit, it was nice to escape reality for a while and join Kevin on his mission.

Although, maybe it's not that surprising we're sobbing at a baby carrot's cute voice on day two of lockdown...
