Woman Shares Genius Ice Lolly Hack Which Stops Spillages

This is genius.

It's officially ice lolly season.

But as much as we love an excuse to tuck into the frozen treats as soon as the weather tips above 20 degrees, what we don't love is having to clean up sticky, fruity puddles after kids inevitably end dropping them on the floor.

That's why we were thrilled to see one savvy mum invent a solution, using one item you probably already have in the house.

Yup, with nothing but a sandwich bag clip you can make it easier for a kid to clasp their lolly, and keep it secure while they snack away. Genius!

All you need is a sandwich bag clip (

Sharing the tip on Facebook, Lisa Larner shared a picture of the clip fastened horizontally across the middle of the lolly stick.

'For all those with children who are at an age where holding an ice lolly stick is difficult. Use a sandwich bag clip on the stick.... allows them to grip with both hands," she wrote.

Explaining what inspired her genius invention, Lisa told Tyla: "Me and my husband actually came up with the idea a year or two ago when my littlest struggled to hold a lolly.

"We shared the idea with mum friends who were having similar issues with their children and they loved it.

"It's easy to just keep [a sandwich bag clip] in your bag incase you need one when out and about."

Lisa said she hoped her nifty trick "may help out a child or two".

And that it has, seeing as almost a thousand people on the Facebook group have 'liked' the post, and she's since been flooded with comments from appreciative parents.

"What a great idea!!," one wrote.

While another agreed: "That's a fab idea, ill be doing this from now on with my daughter who's 4..."

In another handy piece of advice, several other parents chipped in to say that they also use cupcake cases to catch the lolly's drip.

So simple, but so effective!
