NHS Staff To Get Free Ibiza Holiday As Thank You For Coronavirus Efforts

The local government in Ibiza is backing a campaign to see NHS workers bag a free holiday to the White Isle in 2021.

As a thank you for their tireless hard work and determination during the coronavirus pandemic, the 'Together For Health Heroes' scheme applies to all healthcare workers across Europe and aims to provide free accommodation for those on the frontline.

"Together we are driving change by celebrating and rewarding those who put our community, family and friends first during the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Unprecedented times highlight exceptional people. We thank those who we have trusted with our lives, by gifting them our homes and hotels in Ibiza and across Europe."

The campaign aims to find "at least 1,000 best in class accommodation providers in Europe". From extravagant villas to boujee hotels and apartments, approximately 60 properties have already donated a free, one week stay - and they look seriously luxe.

Included in the list are rooms in hotel chains such as the Atzaro, OD Hoteles, and Aguas de Ibiza hotels.

The scheme has also been backed by the Ibizan government, with tourism councillor Juan Miguel Costa telling local paper, Diario de Ibiza, that it aims to "compensate those who have looked after us, risking their lives in many cases, and who deserve that we all do our share to make sure they have holidays that meet high expectations".

The free accommodation would be available out of peak dates, in April, May and October and you can read more about the initiative here.

The offer comes after Turkish Airlines said it would be offering huge discounts to NHS staff on its flights.

Those who register with the airline can get 40 per cent off their journey, along with three others on the booking. You can only claim the offer until 18th July for flights scheduled up until May 2021.

"Turkish Airlines started a new campaign for the healthcare workers who are working selflessly to combat the Covid-19 pandemic," said a spokesperson.

"With this campaign, all healthcare workers working around the world will be able to fly at 40 per cent discount with their tickets purchased from Turkish Airlines webpage or mobile application."

Seriously 2021 cannot come soon enough.
