For many women across the country, the hairdressers was one of the first places they visited after lockdown restrictions began to ease last month. However, one woman was left feeling gutted after her first trim left her looking like 'Dumb and Dumber'.

Laura Clarke, 25, sought a new hairstyle on 1st May and showed the hairdresser a snap of a model as inspiration for her new 'do.

After waiting eight hours for a trim, Laura was left with a fringe which looked "nothing like the photo" she was inspired by.

Laura tried to see the funny side of the situation by sharing the hilarious pictures of her trim with her friends, who said she looked like a character from the comedy film Dumb and Dumber or a "founding father".

Instead of hiding the hair faux pas, Laura has decided to embrace her new locks until her fringe grows out.

The LGBT charity worker, from Barry, Wales, said: "It was hilarious - when I came home I tried to style it, but it just didn't suit me.

"I found this amazing picture and thought I was going to have hair just like it, slick and casual. But I ended up looking like a founding father."

Laura said she ended up looking "worse than before".

She said: "I don't blame the hairstylist, it's just my type of hair which makes it look ridiculous. I have really curly hair so it just doesn't hold that type of style."

Laura said she was looking for a "casual" style that she could maintain.

She said: "I gave it a wash to see what it looked like when I styled it myself.

"It looked even worse. I just couldn't do anything with it. I Googled 'curtain bangs' and saw the picture and thought it was perfect. I hadn't had my hair cut for ages so I thought that it would be really nice.

"It looked really easy to do, but it didn't work at all."

Now, Laura is wearing her fringe clipped back or her hair up in a bun to cover up the haircut fail.

She said: "I just laughed at myself everyday now. I have had the same hairstyle for so many years I just wanted to try something different. Different is definitely what I got.

"Lots of people had started getting middle partings. I thought that they looked great. I'll keep clipping it back until it grows or try some new styles with it.

"It's going to be trial and error, but I don't want to look like a founding father or a character from Dumb or Dumber."
