We all know the pain of going into the hairdressers and coming out with something completely different than we wanted - but what about when it's your dog?

An owner was left unable to recognise her dog after a groomer shaved all the pooch's fur off when he misunderstood her instructions.

Nanuk, a fluffy white Samoyed, was left bald after his trip to the groomers, resembling more a British Bull Terrier than his own Siberian breed.

Owner Carley Coca, 28, from Florida, says she asked her local groomer for a "trim of his upper coat" but was left gobsmacked -and in hysterics - when she saw the result.

The occupational therapy doctorate student, said she didn't even recognise her dog when she saw him when walking past the groomers window.

"When I went to pick up Nanuk from the dog groomers, and I literally said out loud 'that's not my dog!," said Carly.

"The groomer assured me, it was Nanuk and I even had to call him to check but he looked like a complete different breed.

"Nanuk seemed to love the haircut - he acted so proud but he'd never looked like that before, I was so shocked.

"Even as a puppy, he'd always been so fluffy!"

Nanuk even had to start wearing sun cream and a jacket after the overzealous trim.

"He's got a hilarious personality - he's just one big stubborn goof and without all his fur?," added Carly.

"I couldn't stop laughing - I remember saying can you just trim the long hairs off his feet and ears?

"It was awful really as the man who had groomed him was obviously so proud of his work, so I felt like I just had to smile and let it go.

Thankfully, Nanuk's fur started to grown back (

"You do have to be careful with Samoyed fur, and they shouldn't be cut like that really, but he was never cold - he honestly seemed to love it.

"Although I did love having to put sunscreen on him, and at one point even a t-shirt to try and protect him."

Carly and her husband Michael Coca, 28, now take Nanuk and their two rescue puppies Sadie and Mucca to a different groomer after the incident.

Nanuk's hair took a year to grow back properly, but now he's looking as good as before. Phew!
