Despite stock levels at many supermarkets beginning to return to normal, it's still tricky to get hold of essentials when you need them - especially if you're self-isolating.

Now, Morrisons has teamed up with Deliveroo to help customers access essential supplies in as little as half an hour.

There's around 70 items to choose from, including vegetables, meat, eggs, bread and milk as well as other long-life cupboard foods.

The service is available from 130 Morrisons stores across the UK and shoppers will need to order through the Deliveroo app or via the website.

Other items included in the list are ready meals, rice, pasta and snacks such as crisps, drinks and cereals.

There will also be a delivery charge on each order, which varies depending on your location and how far away you live from the supermarket. Fees start at £1.49 and there will also be a 49p service charge, too.

Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: "Our partnership with Deliveroo will help us to continue to play our full part in feeding the nation.

"It's a great combination of traditional and modern methods and it will provide more vulnerable people with the opportunity to receive their home delivery."

Meanwhile, Ajay Lakhwani, vice president of new business at Deliveroo, explained it was important to ensure shoppers had access to a range of essentials, especially vulnerable customers.

"With families and vulnerable people in isolation, it is more important than ever that we make sure they have access to the essential household items they need," he said.

"During this worrying period we want to play our role in making sure people have access to a range of items, in particular the vulnerable who cannot leave their homes."

Unsurprisingly, March was the busiest ever month for supermarkets on record, even beating the annual Christmas period with sales rising by over 20 per cent.

As a result, stores across the nation have been implementing a range of new measures to keep their staff safe, while feeding the nation and importantly, making sure vulnerable and self-isolating customers are prioritised.

This includes setting aside dedicated shopping hours for elderly customers and NHS workers as well as introducing plastic screens to shield customer service assistants while they serve shoppers.

Other measures include 'safe distance' signs when queueing to ensure social distancing measures are maintained.

Supermarkets are also doing their best to add extra delivery and click and collect slots to ensure their shoppers can access food and supplies without putting themselves and others at risk.

We're so grateful to every member of staff doing their best in the midst of the pandemic. To order a Morrisons delivery through Deliveroo simply head to the website or download the app.
