Got change from a fiver? Then you might be able to win yourself a Georgian mansion worth £1million.

Guy and Julie Vass, from Lune Valley, Lancashire, have decided to put their Grade II listed home in a prize draw - with tickets going for just £2.50.

The couple have lived in the stunning mansion - named Melling Hall - for the past 18 years and have decided to raffle it off to raise money for St John's Hospice, the NHS and other charities.

The luxe Melling Hall is made up of three floors, a two-storey high entrance hall with a grand staircase, three double bedrooms, and a self-contained two-bed loft apartment with scenic walks just at the bottom of the garden.

Guy, 66, a retired business owner and his wife Julie, 62, still have a mortgage on the home, but are hoping to sell as many as 650,000 tickets priced at £2.50 to go towards it as well as the charities.

The retiree first fell in love with the property, then a hotel, when he was just 16-years-old and decided to buy it when it was first put on the market 18-years-ago with his brother.

Since then, its been transformed from a guest house into a luxury family home, undergoing hundreds of thousands of pounds of renovations.

"This house has been a labour of love - we spent hundreds of thousands of pounds renovating it into our dream home but feel it is time for us to move on and pass it on to someone who can make good use of it," said Guy.

"When you buy a historical building, they always say that you are the keeper not the owner and that's one of my favourite sayings.

"I first got the idea to raffle off the house after my neighbour did the same thing three-years-ago. I thought it was such a unique and fun idea and that's what we decided to do - it's life changing for someone.

"We haven't thought about where we will be moving to but we want to stay in the area - I think we will miss the area more than the house as we are surrounded by beautiful, rural countryside.

"This is going to change our lives, we'll be mortgage free and able to help some charities that are extremely close to our hearts.

"It's not a difficult house to look after and we've done every bit of renovation you can imagine".
