From attending the hen do to buying an outfit, being a wedding guest is an expensive business - and that's before you even get to presents.
But one couple has shocked the internet after imposing a "tiered" menu according to each guest's cash gift.
The idea is, the more money you give, the better the meal you get on the day.
The menu ranges from chicken to lobster, and varies depending on whether guests give a gift of $250 (£175) or - wait for it - $2,500 (£1,760).
With the menus starting at $250 (£175) it seems a gift of less than that amount would be deemed inappropriate.
The menu reads: "So that we may prepare your preferred dinner, please circle your gift level and indicate a meal of choice for each person in your party.
"Loving gift: Up to $250 (£175) - roast chicken [or] swordfish. Silver gift: $251 - $500 (£350) above choices [or] sliced steak [or] salmon.
"Golden gift - $501 - $1,000 (£703) above choices [or] fillet mignon [or] lobster tails. Platinum gift - $1,001 - $2,500+ above choices [or] 2lb lobster plus souvenir goblet."
The menu went on to explain that the souvenir goblet is only available for platinum level gifters.
In other shocking wedding stories, we told you about the woman who instructed her bridal party to lose weight for her special day, told them to change their hair length and colour and even asked for hefty donations to her honeymoon.
In a text message shared on Reddit the bride could be seen to write: "Welcome to my bridal party, I'm so excited to marry the man of my dreams.
"As you know this is going to be a very different wedding. We are hoping to do it outside and understand December is generally a cold month but in Oklahoma its usually sunny and 70.
"Just a few things to ask... I hand picked all the dresses [for] bridesmaid that will be there and they will all be a size 8. So if you're not a size 8 I recommend hitting the gym.
"No offence to anyone but I have had this planned since I was in diapers and want it perfect."
