When it comes to choosing a dog, sometimes it's their look, sometimes it's a feeling - but according to new study you should really be choosing according to your star sign.

According to the tongue-in-cheek research, conducted by canine suppliers Webbox Naturals, those with an Aries star sign are best suited to playful dogs such as a Labrador or Golden Retriever.

Meanwhile, someone who falls under Leo on the zodiac should aim for Saint Bernard or Mastiff, who mirror their confident nature.

Who knew?

And while many of us read horoscopes just for a bit of fun, Webbox says the research also highlights an important issue about responsible ownership - and how best to accommodate different types of dogs.

Camille Ashforth, Senior Brand Manager at Webbox Naturals said of the study: "We hope it encourages potential new owners to think carefully about taking on a dog that really suits their lifestyle.

"Pet ownership is a wonderful and amazing experience, but when bringing home a dog, you really do have to think about every aspect of your life and how owning a dog will fit into this - from the size of your home, garden and monthly budget, not just your zodiac sign!"

The study suggests that the zodiac highlights responsible ownership of our furry friends. (
