A heartbreaking video circulating online has shown the moment a dog chases after its owners car after they left it on the roadside and drove away.
Sad scenes show the car revving an driving off, while the abandoned dog runs after the car in confusion. You can briefly hear a bystander whistling to get the car's attention, but the driver continues on his journey.
The upsetting footage was taken in August 15th Fontibón, a Bogotá suburb in Colombia where the dog can be seeing standing by the side of a busy road, having just been dumped.

Understandably, the video has sparked outrage online with people looking to identify the owner and others concerned about the dog's welfare.
In Colombia, there are heavy penalties against animal cruelty with perpetrators able to be handed fines of up to 43.9 million COP (£8,860).

In June this year, the South American country approved a bill to implement stronger animal protection policies including building more animal welfare centres.
Sadly, the unnamed dog's case is just the latest in a string of dog abandonment incidents which have reached the news.
Earlier this month, we heard the sad case of a 13-year-old golden retriever who was dropped off in a cup-de-sac and left by its owner in Washington.
CCTV footage showed the woman pulling up in her car on the roadside, before opening the rear passenger door and letting her dog - now known to be called Henry - out.

She then leads him by the collar into the nape of the nearby woods, pretending to taken him for a walk, before rushing back to her car and driving off.
It was revealed the woman had been identified and cited with animal cruelty in an update the following week.
The dog, Henry, is now looking for a loving home, and we hope the Colombian pooch finds the same.
