With a heatwave expected to hit our shores this weekend, there's no doubt many families will be headed to the seaside to soak up the good weather.

But if you're already fearful about bringing half the beach home with you, don't worry as talcum powder is set to become your new best friend after one mum revealed it's the best way to combat sandy-toes.

The wise woman's cheap and easy trick to stop bringing the seaside back in your shoes first appeared in an article on Mumsnet, which rounded up its users' best holiday tips, and insisted it worked a "charm" on her children's sandy feet.

The mum said of the life-changing hack: "Chuck a load on your feet to help brush off the sand that's stuck to them. Works like a charm.

"Tried talc on sand today... got a few weird looks but lo and behold, it did in fact work!"

Although it's not entirely new information, it certainly is a trick we hadn't heard of before in Pretty52 HQ.

Elaborating on the hack further, Daytripping Mom wrote on her blog that baby powder removes moisture from the skin, which in turn stops sand from sticking to it, making it easier to wipe off.

She penned: "When you're going to feed the kiddos a snack or getting ready to serve lunch at the beach, bring out your little bottle of baby powder, shake a generous amount on hands and then be ready to easily shake of the sand off any hands.

"It works on hair, feet, and legs. Once you try it, you won't want to head to the beach without it.

But should talc not be your thing, she suggests: "If you don't like using baby powder or prefer using something more natural, you can also use cornstarch and it works just as well."

This is a hack we'll definitely be trying!
