People Are Getting P***ed Together In Virtual House Parties And It's Everything

This sort of self isolation is inspiring.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic that is causing worry for many, we're also finding ways to cheer ourselves up now that we're meant to be socially distancing.

Whilst some are putting up Christmas lights to bring joy, others are getting p**sed on the Houseparty app with their pals.

After all, we'd normally head to the pub or out for dinner and wine with our friends several times a week. And since PM Boris Johnson has told us to keep our distance from others and especially avoid places like bars and theatres, we need to socialise somehow.

So, those that are already bored of their own (or their partner's) company have been taking to the app which allows you to video chat with eight of you at once.

The screen splits so you get a miniature of all your pals' faces, just in case you've forgotten what they look like over the past week.

But even better, people aren't just spending their evenings catching up, they're doing it with boozy beverages, just like they would at the pub. Amen to that.

People have been taking to social media with screenshots of their House Party chats to show just how much fun they are having despite being at home and how the app is helping them keep some normality.

One said: "V SERIOUS APP RECOMMENDATION. Not an ad but #Houseparty just saved my brain from feeling like mush and I could hang out with my friends and it felt semi normal-big, big recommend."

Another added: "The gals & I did virtual happy hour tonight and it was wonderful in light of everything that's going on right now. Nice to just chat with friends & enjoy a beverage. Highly recommend the HouseParty app if people want to video chat with multiple people at once."

A third chipped in: "I caught up w/my college #BFFs (go Huskies!) on the @houseparty app tonight! So great to talk, play games, laugh, & feel less isolated while social distancing."

Turns out, you can even play games together on the application. Friday games sesh night anyone?

And due to the sudden downloads thanks to people desperate for contact with pals amid social distancing measures, the app is now in the top three free apps on the apple store.

If you're keen to download, you just need to go to the app or Google Play store to install on your phone - it's free. If your friends download it too, you will all be alerted when one of you is 'in the house' - like a real life house party.

You then need to create a chat or 'room' and invite people to it, or request to join a chat.

We know where we'll be spending our Friday night anyway (at home on this app, obvs).
