A creative couple have created a magical bed for their daughter - and it's straight out of a fairy story.

Heather and Mark Hollis, from Irvine, Scotland, trawled Pinterest for inspiration while making a beautiful new bed for their five-year-old daughter Isabella.

The fairytale bed looks just like a doll's house and is complete with a play area up top, secret hiding places and glow in the dark paint details.

The total cost? A bargain £100.

The parents of six say they have been wanting to make it for a long time but never had the time - and it took Mark, a stay at home dad, 13 weeks to complete the project.

Heather, an early years practitioner said: "I had a lot of ideas from Pinterest, I was the 'brains' behind it but Mark built it.

"We wanted to do one for ages and we never had time to do it- the lockdown was the perfect timing for it."

Luckily, the thrifty mum already had the bed and some leftover wood from other projects, which they used to create the new frame.

"It was really hard finding things because everywhere was shut," she said.

"People gave us some ply mdf and we managed to build most of it.

"We had most of the stuff so it cost us about £100- the most extravagant bit is the roof that cost us £50."

She continued: "We wanted to make sure to have storage so we used the base of an old bed we were going to throw away, to make the drawers.

"She absolutely loved it, she enjoyed seeing every part of the process.

"We all spend our time there, we all go and like to look at it," she added.
