This Incredible Nail File Hack's Gone Viral And It'll Blow Your Mind
How many times have you thought your nail file was completely used up and thrown it away? Well in news that officially blew our minds, a Twitter user - who goes by the name of HalfLuo - just pointed out you might have been completely wasting your money (and time) for your whole life..
She posted a photo of an emery board with a whole layer peeled back with the caption with the caption "How old were you ladies when you learnt that you can peel the old layers off to reveal a new one?"
The answer, for most of us, is most probably "today years old".
The responses all range from outraged to stunned, with one user saying "I never knew this" and others lamenting how many "thousands" of "used" nail files they'd thrown away over the years.
While it's frustrating to think that you might have been throwing away barely used nail files without realising you could keep on peeling layers away and using them, it is perhaps comforting to know that not all nail files can do this - it isn't necessarily universal.Actually, the "peelable" nail file design is something Revlon patented in 2014.
You can still buy a peelable Revlon file here. Alternatively, there are cheaper options - Superdrug still make their own, and you can buy 5 of them for just £2.99. The design is super handy, cheap, and environmentally friendly, as it'll take way less packaging to sell way more usable nail files.
Not sure whether the nail files you have kicking about at home are actually peelable? There's only one way to find out - get peeling, friends. Although, if there is a big chunk of foam padding in the centre or it's made of glass, chances are, you won't have much luck.
Just take a good look and see whether there are visible layers on the side of the file, then peel to your heart's content.
