A TikTok has caused quite a stir online, as two women have offered their advice about how to perfectly apply fake tan to their feet.

Be warned: this might leave you feeling more than a little frustrated.

Check out the video below:

The clip sees two users, known as the @hondroutwins, sharing what they believe to be the perfect tactic to apply tan to their feet.

They shared it after being asked for tips by one follower, who wrote: "Off topic but how do you get your feet so perfectly tanned?"

"Lots of people disagree with this method but it works for us," they reply, as they share a video of a huge lump of foamy tan being squeezed onto a towel, before being swept up and rubbed into a leg and then down into the foot.

That's a lot of tan... (

"The amount I put is for the whole body so do not be alarmed. Start off with the legs and move down, moving underneath the foot a little bit.

"Rub it in your toes, push it up if there's too much."

The clip then shows a foot completely covered in fake tan, and concludes: "Perfect!"

But many viewers did not agree, criticising the clip for squirting out so much product, and suggesting that tonnes of the foam must surely be wasted in the process.

"They waste so much tan and don't even looked tanned, " one person wrote underneath the video.

While another questioned: "Why did you put the tanner all over the floor?" (It was a towel, but the point still stands...)

"This is chaos," said somebody else, as a third wrote: "Oh Jesus. No".

"Whenever I do this I get super dark spots on my knees and certain spots on my feet," a fellow TikToker complained.

Another was simply fascinated with the method, questioning their own technique.

"You use way more than I do, is that my problem?," they wrote.

But there were others that swore by it.

"I don't do as much but I use this method and LOVE IT," someone wrote. "Takes longer but has such a better turnout."

Meanwhile, another agreed: "This method is amazing".

It looks like the jury is still out on this one...
