You Can Now Buy Glasses To Help You See Over The Crowds At Gigs

Hands up who's been at a gig, only to find yourself stuck behind a group of the tallest people you've ever seen? There's finally a solution for you: the 'One Foot Taller' glasses, which allow you to see right over the crowds. Genius.

Created by inventor Dominic Wilcox, the periscope glasses cleverly use angled mirror acrylic to effectively give you an extra foot of height.

Revealing the design on his Instagram, Dominic said he was inspired to create the specs after seeing a "small woman" at a gig who was "dancing away but with no chance of seeing the act."

He wrote: "I was standing at a gig watching the music and turned round to see a small woman dancing away but with no chance of seeing the act.

"This gave me the idea to design and make these 'One Foot Taller' periscope glasses. They are made by cutting and bending one sheet of mirror acrylic which I think worked out well after lots of tries."

Dominic created the glasses in response to a challenge by Microsoft to come up with out-of-the-box solutions to everyday problems.

"Microsoft Surface challenged me to think up some extraordinary solutions to everyday problems so I came up with this and The Directing Jacket on the previous Insta post," he added in his Instagram post."

Dominic's creation was shown at the Extraordinary Solutions for Everyday Problems exhibition at Truman Brewery in London from 21st to 23rd May 2019.

Dominic has invented plenty of nifty creations: he's also come up with a jacket that can be lit up with an arrow to direct people walking towards you, which will help you avoid that painfully awkward situation where two passersby don't know which direction to walk in and end up continuously bumping into each other.

The periscope glasses remind us of that legendary Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry David creates a car periscope to see over the traffic.

The glasses aren't available to buy right now, but when they are we're going to kit ourselves out with these ingenious specs just in time for Glastonbury.
